Why I Started a Snail Mail Club

Starting a snail mail club for my art was one of the items on my goal list for 2025. I thought about it for several months. How I wanted it to look and feel and all of the little details I wanted to include. I wanted it to feel cozy, warm, and nostalgic, just like my art.

I launched my snail mail club in June 2025 with my first round of mail going out in July. Now six months in, I've learned and adapted so much. Recently, I've been thinking about why I started my mail club in the first place and I wanted to share my thoughts.

There are so many reasons why I wanted to start my snail mail club but I'll narrow it down to a few: tangible connection, creating little moments of joy, and putting accessible and affordable art out into the world.

Why I started a snail mail club

Tangible Connection

I've been sharing my art on social media for a couple of years now. I don't mean what I'm about to say in a negative way because it's just a part of the social media world. I know that majority of my views across all platforms I post on are immediately followed by quick swipes away and that particular artwork is never given another thought.

It comes with the nature of social media, right? There's so much content out there. My favorite part about going to markets and festivals to sell my art is the face-to-face, personal connection. You get to see the reaction to your art and talk about it with others in a more meaningful way.

I wanted to figure out a way to have that same experience with people all over the country. Something that those who enjoy my art look forward to.

Sending little physical pieces of my art out into the world every month feels so much more personal than just posting about it online. It's an opportunity for those who appreciate art to truly notice the art and all of its tiny details.

Creating little moments of joy for others

I know the excitement of anticipating something in the mail that I've been looking forward to. It sounds a little silly but sometimes, if I've been having a not so great day, opening that mail can actually turn it around.

Everyone is busy. We all families and jobs and bills and appointments and expectations of us. When we're able to pause for a moment and enjoy something that took time and effort and care, it's significant and meaningful.

I hope my art and this cozy snail mail club can reach others in the same way other artists' work has reached me.

Accessible and affordable art

I'm very passionate about this topic and I have so many thoughts surrounding it. I truly think art should be for everyone and be able to be enjoyed by everyone.

Postcards have been at the core of my business since I first started showing up at markets and festivals. They're what I sell the most of by far.

I think it has a little bit to do with the fact that they're cute and a lot to do with their lower price point. I don't view my art as a luxury that should be enjoyed by few in a gallery somewhere. I want to spread the joy of art to as many people as I can.

Looking ahead

I'm so proud of my tiny art snail mail club. It's probably the one thing that I'm most happy about accomplishing this year! My hope is that it continues to grow in 2026 and I continue to have more opportunities to share something I love, art.

If you'd like to check out my snail mail club, you can do that here.

If you've already joined, thank you so much! I love seeing pictures of you opening your happy mail and hearing from you all each month. Keep the messages, shares, comments, etc. coming! I see and appreciate them all.
