About the art

Tomato Medley, for me, represents appreciating little joys in the everyday. Inspiration for this drawing came from something I've done many times before but on one particular day, suddenly saw in a new way.

I was chopping medley tomatoes by my kitchen window for dinner one summer evening. As the sun shone through the window and onto my cutting board, it brought out so many beautiful colors in the tomatoes. I was immediately struck with inspiration for my next drawing.

I grabbed my phone to take some reference photos and after dinner, got straight to work on this drawing. It was one of those rare drawings that flowed so easily and I hardly stopped to think about which tomato to draw next or what shape it should take - I just knew!
